In the first phase, the Electricity Department has started the work of installing smart prepaid electricity meters in place of the meters installed in the feeder of the power house. Along with this, the survey work of industrial connections, commercial connections (shops) and domestic connections is going on at a very fast pace. It is going on.
As soon as the survey is completed, smart prepaid electricity meters will be installed in place of meters with industrial connections. After this, the electricity department will install new meters in place of the old meters installed for commercial and domestic connections. There is a plan to install about 3.5 to 4 lakh smart prepaid electricity meters in the district by the electricity department. For this, many teams of the electricity department are working day and night.
Along with the survey of smart prepaid electricity meters, opposition has also started against it, people allege that the people of the state where electricity is produced have to spend the most for electricity. Now with the introduction of smart prepaid electricity meters, poor families are going to face the most problems. The government needs to pay attention to this issue.
You won't have to go through the rounds
After installation of smart prepaid electricity meter, if any consumer's meter gets damaged then the consumer will not have to make rounds of JE and line man. SC Tripathi, Superintending Engineer of Electricity Department, Rudrapur Circle, said that now consumers will not have to make rounds of the officials after the meter gets damaged. Our team will replace the faulty meter and install new meter, the consumer will not have to pay any fee for this.
To attract consumers, the Electricity Department is giving discount in the electricity bills of prepaid electricity meters. Consumers with industrial, commercial and domestic connections are also going to get the benefit of this discount. Electricity Department Rudrapur Circle Superintending Engineer SC Tripathi said that consumers with domestic connections will get a rebate of 4 percent, while commercial and industrial connections will get a rebate of 3 percent.

Consumers will get 24 hours time
After the recharge of smart prepaid electricity meter is completed, consumers will get at least 24 hours. SC Tripathi, Superintendent Engineer, Rudrapur Circle of the Electricity Department, said that if a consumer's recharge runs out after the installation of a smart meter, he will have at least 24 hours to recharge. If the consumer wishes, he can do his recharge online or can deposit it by reaching the department's office.

With this, prepaid electricity meters started being installed in power house feeders and now preparations are being made to install them in the offices of electricity departments. There are preparations to install about 3.5 lakh to 4 lakh smart prepaid electricity meters in the district, while about 1.6 lakh smart prepaid electricity meters are to be installed in Rudrapur Circle.
