Former British PM praised India, supported permanent seat in UNSC; Talk on Ratan Tata also


Former British PM David Cameron praised India profusely on Monday. Cameron, while speaking about the permanent seat in the UN Security Council, said that India should have a permanent seat there. Apart from this, Cameron also talked about the acquisition of car brands Land Rover and Jaguar by Indian industrialist Ratan Tata.

While speaking at the NDTV World Summit, Cameron said that at this time the world needs a reset, a lot of time has passed since the Second World War, a lot has changed in the world since then. We have to move with the times, India should have a permanent seat in the Security Council of the United Nations, it is India's right. If you want to understand the importance of India at the global level, then you will have to see that at present India is playing an important role in G-20 and G7 also.

India can become the largest economy in this century – Cameron

Talking about the Indian economy, Cameron said that if you look at the Indian economy, sometime in this century it will become the largest economy in the world. Talking about the recently deceased Indian industrialist Ratan Tata, he said that when Ratan Tata acquired leading British companies Land-Rover and Jaguar in the field of car manufacturing, it was an important initiative for the Indian economy. This was a demonstration of India's growing potential in front of the world.

India can mediate in Ukraine-Russia conflict

Talking about the ongoing Ukraine-Russia conflict in Europe, Cameron said that whatever is happening there is not right. Russian President Putin is sitting occupying Ukrainian land. We can come together and tell Russia that you are wrong. We have to talk about ending that war, as far as India is concerned, I think India has a better rapport with both the sides, in such a situation India can mediate in ending this conflict.

Talking about the Free Trade Agreement between India and Britain, Cameron said that this should happen between the two economies. For this, both the parties should make efforts to make it possible. Both countries need investment. We can do this work together.
