May Putin's fate be the same as my husband's…the pain of Alexei Navalny's widow.

Yulia Navalnya, widow of Alexei Navalny, who was the head of Putin's opposition party in Russia, has said that she will remove President Vladimir Putin from the post and become the President of the country. In an interview, Navalnya vowed to continue her husband's fight for democracy. She said, “I will contest the elections. Vladimir Putin is in front of me. And I will do everything to end his rule as soon as possible.” It is noteworthy that Alexei Navalny was considered the biggest critic of Putin in the Russian political scene and he had made many corruption-related revelations against the Putin government. He died in prison under suspicious circumstances in February this year after being sentenced to 19 years' imprisonment on charges of political conspiracy, for which Putin was blamed. Russia has denied any involvement in the death of Alexei Navalny. Whereas US President Joe Biden has said that Putin is responsible for this.

“I can't win as long as Putin is in power,” Alexei Navalny's wife said in an interview with BBC. Yulia Navalnaya said that her children are also being affected after her husband's death. In 2021, Alexei Navalny was poisoned by a nerve agent named Novichok. After escaping from him, Alexei Navalny returned to Russia where he was kept in custody. Yulia told how much her husband was tortured. He was imprisoned in a closed jail for 295 days. Navalnaya has criticized the international community's response to her husband's death. He has called the sanctions imposed on Russian officials a joke and advised world leaders to be less afraid of Putin.

She challenged the Russian President, saying, “I want him to be in a Russian prison. I want him to suffer the same fate as Alexei.” Yulia Navalnaya runs an anti-corruption foundation where she is gathering evidence against the Putin government. Recalling her last conversation with her husband, Yulia said that everyone had realized that they would never get out of jail alive. “He really laughed at this regime and Vladimir Putin. That's why Vladimir Putin hated him so much,” he said.
