A fire broke out on the ground floor of Mandai Metro station in Pune, Maharashtra on Sunday midnight, although no one was injured in the incident. According to the fire department, the incident occurred due to foam catching fire during welding.

A fire department official said that after receiving the information, five fire brigade vehicles were sent to the spot and the fire was brought under control.

BJP and Congress announced candidates for Assam by-elections

Congress on Sunday evening announced candidates for the by-elections to be held on 5 assembly seats of Assam, Dholai, Sidli, Bongaigaon and Samaguri. Apart from these seats, there is also a by-election on Behali assembly seat. MLAs from all these seats have won the Lok Sabha elections. Due to this these seats have become vacant.

Congress has fielded Tanjeel, son of Congress leader Rakibul Hussain, as its candidate from Samaguri. Rakibul was earlier the MLA from here. Congress has given tickets to Dhrubjyoti Purkayastha from Dholai, Sanjeeb Warle from Sidli and Brajenjit Sinha from Bongaigaon. Congress has left the Behali seat for INDIA block, from here CPI (ML)'s Bibek Das has been made the candidate.

The BJP on Saturday released the names of its three candidates for the by-election – Nihar Ranjan Das (Dholai), Digant Ghatwar (Behali) and Diplu Ranjan Sarma (Samaguri). Candidates of BJP's allies AGP and UPPL will contest elections in Bongaigaon and Sidli. Voting will be held on all these seats on 13th November and the result will be declared on 23rd November.
