The government postpones the launch of the Zaafarana and Beni Suef power stations

Arab Finance: The Egyptian government postponed offering the Zaafarana wind and Beni Suef power plants to foreign investors. It was agreed with investors to establish hybrid plants between wind and solar energy at the Zafarana Winds site, according to what was reported by Iqtisad Al-Sharq.

The government also intends to add 22 megawatts to Egypt’s renewable energy capabilities by 2029, with about 14 gigawatts of wind energy and 8 gigawatts of solar energy.

It is worth noting that the Beni Suef power station is one of three stations that were opened in Egypt in July 2018. The three stations were built by the German company Siemens in cooperation with Orascom Construction and Elsewedy Electric for generating electricity, at a cost of 6 billion euros, with a capacity of 14.4 gigawatts in the Administrative Capital, Burullus City, and Beni Suef.
