BGMEA demanded reinstatement of incentives in garment sector

According to BGMEA data, in the July-September quarter, where Bangladesh's garment exports grew by 5.34 percent, Vietnam's grew by 15.57 percent and India's by 13.45 percent. They also said that the lag in growth in the third quarter of the year compared to competing countries indicates that export orders are moving to these countries.

It was informed in the press conference that due to instability in certain industrial areas, export and production of 250 million to 300 million dollars in the garment sector of the country has been disrupted in the month of September.

Khandkar Rafiqul Islam also said that the production and supply of clothes has been disrupted in the month of July-August. Many factories face uncertainty over payment of salaries for the month of August. As a result, BGMEA wrote a letter to the financial adviser asking for a loan on easy terms and met with the governor of Bangladesh Bank. In response to the request of BGMEA, the organization expressed its gratitude to the Bangladesh Bank for issuing loans to the banks for the payment of salaries and allowances to the workers of all export-oriented industries.
