On October 17, Israel announced that on October 7, Israeli soldiers killed Yahya Sinwar, a Hamas member. Sinwar was believed to be the mastermind of the attacks on Israel. Israel has earlier killed several top ranking commanders of Hezbollah including Hassan Nasrallah. This trend has continued since the Hamas attack. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to end it.

The Hindu has released the list of Hamas and Hezbollah leaders in one of its reports.

1. Yahya Sinwar: Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar was killed by Israeli forces in Gaza. He was motivated by his deep hostility toward the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories and a deep commitment to the Islamist ideology of Hamas.

2. Hassan Nasrallah: Regarding Lebanon's Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah, Israel said on September 28, 2024 that they had killed him. Nasrallah led Hezbollah during decades of conflict with Israel. He also had the support of Iran.

3. Fatah Sharif: The Israeli military said on September 30, 2024 that its forces killed Sharif, the leader of Hamas in Lebanon.

4. Ali Karaki: Ali Karaki, one of Hezbollah's top commanders, was killed in the airstrike that killed Nasrallah. The Israeli military said more than 20 militants of various ranks were killed in the attack on the underground bunker.

5. Nabeel Kauk: Kouk, who was killed in an airstrike on September 28, 2024, was the deputy head of Hezbollah's Central Council.

6. Mohammad Saroor: Saroor was the chief of Hezbollah's drone unit. Drones were used for the first time in the current conflict with Israel. Under his leadership, Hezbollah launched explosives and reconnaissance drones into Israel.

7. Ibrahim Qubaisi: Qubaisi led Hezbollah's missile unit. The Israeli military says Qubaisi planned the kidnapping and murder of three Israeli soldiers on the northern border in 2000.

8. Ibrahim Aqeel: Hezbollah operations commander Ibrahim Akil, who was killed in an Israeli strike on September 20, 2024, had a $7 million bounty on his head for two truck bombings in Beirut in 1983. 11. Mohammad Nasir: Mohammed Nasser was killed in an Israeli airstrike on 3 July. Israel claimed responsibility, saying he was leading a unit that fired on Israel from south-western Lebanon. According to senior security sources in Lebanon, Nasser, a senior commander in Hezbollah, was responsible for a portion of Hezbollah's operations on the border.

12. Taleb Abdullah: Senior Hezbollah field commander Abdullah was killed in an attack claimed by Israel on 12 June. It was an attack on a command and control center in southern Lebanon. Security sources in Lebanon said he was Hezbollah's commander for the central sector of the southern border strip.

13. Mohammed Deaf: Hamas leader Def was killed in an airstrike by Israeli forces on 1 August. Def had been on the Israeli list since at least the early 2000s.

14. Ismail Haniyeh: Ismail Haniyeh was assassinated on 31 July during a visit to Tehran. He was a Hamas leader since 2017. Iran's Revolutionary Guards said it was hit by a short-range missile.

15. Saleh-Al Arori: On January 2, 2024, an Israeli drone strike on Dahiyah, a southern suburb of Beirut, killed Saleh al-Arouri, the deputy head of Hamas. Arori was also the founder of the Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas.

16. Marwan Issa: Hamas's deputy military commander, Marwan Issa, was killed in an Israeli strike in March, the Israeli military said. He was at the top of Israel's wanted list along with Def and Sinwar.
