Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Media and Public Relations Department of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Muhammad Talebur Rahman said that Atiqul Islam is the accused in three separate murder cases filed at Mohammadpur police station. Apart from this, his name is also included in several cases filed in different police stations after August 5.


On February 28, 2019, the mayor was elected as the Awami League's boat symbol in the DNCC elections. Atiqul Islam After the fall of the Awami government, on August 18, Khan Atiqul Islam went to the head office of the Dhaka North City Corporation and was chased by the public. At that time he escaped through the back stairs of the city building. Then on August 19, the government removed the mayors of 12 city corporations including Atiqul Islam.


Incidentally, the police arrested him from Mohakhali DOHS area of ​​the capital on Wednesday (October 16) evening.
