ED Attached PFI Properties: The Enforcement Directorate on Friday, October 18 seized 35 immovable properties worth Rs 56.56 crore belonging to the Popular Front of India. ED alleges that these properties are in the names of its various trusts, firms and individuals.
According to the ED statement, 19 immovable properties worth Rs 35.43 crore and 16 immovable properties worth Rs 21.13 crore (total 35 immovable properties worth Rs 56.56 crore) were seized. In its statement, the ED alleged that investigation revealed that PFI officials, members and cadre were conspiring to raise funds from India and abroad through banking channels, hawala, donations etc. to commit and fund terrorist acts in India. Illegal money deposited in 29 accounts
ED said that illegal money was deposited in 29 bank accounts of PFI. The funds raised by PFI through illegal means in India and abroad are allegedly being transferred to 29 banks across the country located in Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Bihar, West Bengal, Assam, Jammu and Kashmir and Manipur. Was deposited in bank accounts.
The ED claimed that the money deposited through illegal means of PFI and fake donors in cash or through bank accounts totaled Rs 94 crore. So far, the ED has arrested 26 PFI members and activists and filed 9 prosecution complaints in the period February 2021 to May 2024.
'More than 13,000 active PFI members in Singapore and Gulf countries'
ED in its investigation found that PFI has more than 13,000 active members in Singapore and Gulf countries including Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and UAE. The agency said PFI has formed well-defined District Executive Committees (DECs) for Muslim expatriates living in the Gulf countries, who were entrusted with the task of fund collection.
