Sinwar's martyrdom will not go in vain, Iran reminds Israel of Saddam Hussein's fate

By killing Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, Israel has further increased the already ongoing tension in the Middle East. Now Iran has reacted sharply to the news of Yahya Sinwar's death. Iran has described Sinwar as a martyr and has also reminded Israel of Saddam Hussein. Iran said on Wednesday that the last moments of martyr Sinwar will become an inspiration for youth and children. Iran's Permanent Mission to the United Nations has said that this death will further strengthen the fire of their revenge. “The resistance will continue as long as the occupation and invasion continue. Martyrs never die and they are a source of inspiration for us,” the Iran mission said in a post on social media platforms. Earlier on Wednesday, Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced that Hamas chief Yahya Sinwar has been killed in an attack. Sinwar is considered the mastermind of the attack on Israel on 7 October 2023.

“When US forces pulled Saddam Hussein out of the tunnel, he begged not to kill him,” the Iran Mission to the UN posted. Those who considered Saddam as their role model were defeated.” The post further read, “However, when Muslims see the martyr Sinwar standing on the battlefield and facing the enemy, it will strengthen the feeling of revenge. Will become a role model for youth and children who will fulfill their dream of independence for Palestine.” It is noteworthy that Saddam Hussein was ousted from power in Iraq with the help of America in 2003. The dictator was tried in an Iraqi court for crimes against humanity and was hanged in 2006.

Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed in a video statement on October 17 that Yahya Sinwar had been killed. He said, “As we promised, we have settled our scores. Today evil has been dealt a blow but our mission is not yet complete.” Netanyahu said, “To the people of Gaza, I say that Sinwar ruined your lives. He told you that he was a lion but he was hiding in a dark tunnel and when he ran away from our soldiers in panic, he was killed. “His elimination is a milestone in the elimination of Hamas.”

Israel has now targeted Sinwar after the assassination of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Iran in early July. After Haniyeh's death, Sinwar was declared the head of Hamas. Meanwhile, Hezbollah in Lebanon has announced that it will carry out more attacks on Israel in the coming days.
