Gave job to cyber criminal by mistake, now company got hacked, big scandal

Even criminals are not untouched by the modernizing world. The latest example of this comes from a foreign company, which accidentally hired a North Korean cyber criminal. The result was that he broke into the company itself. According to a report, officials and cyber security experts are issuing warnings about the increase in North Korea's secret staff from the year 2022.

what is the matter

According to a BBC report, the company was hacked after it accidentally hired a North Korean cybercriminal as a remote IT worker. At present, the name of the company has not been made public. It is reported that the criminal had obtained the job with the help of false information. After gaining access to the company's computer network, the hacker downloaded sensitive data and started demanding ransom.

How was it executed?

Now to raise awareness, the company has given permission to cyber security company Secureworks to report this hack. Speaking to BBC, Secureworks said that the IT employee was hired as a contractor in the summer. He used the company's remote working tools and logged into the corporate network.

After this he secretly downloaded as much data as possible from the company. The special thing is that he worked in the company for four months and also took salary. According to the report, when the company fired him, a ransom e-mail came. This e-mail also included some stolen data. However, it is not yet clear whether the company has paid the ransom money to the hacker or not.

Big companies on target

According to the report, in September, cybersecurity company Mandiant said that dozens of Fortune 100 companies had mistakenly hired North Korean people. A similar case also came to light in July, where a North Korean employee was caught trying to hack.
