BJP Delegation submitted Letter to UP EC Demand Early Bypoll Election on Milkipur Seat ANN

Milkipur News Today: The Election Commission on Tuesday (October 15) announced to hold by-elections on 9 assembly seats of Uttar Pradesh on November 13 next month. Earlier, there were speculations that along with these seats, by-elections would also be held on Milkipur assembly seat of the state, however, the Election Commission has currently postponed the by-election on this seat.

After this, today i.e. on Wednesday (16 October), a delegation of Bharatiya Janata Party met the Chief Electoral Officer of Uttar Pradesh. This BJP delegation submitted a letter to the Election Commission demanding holding of by-elections for Milkipur (reserved) seat along with state 9 assembly seats.

These leaders were included in the delegation
This BJP delegation included State General Secretary Govind Narayan Shukla, Anup Gupta, Sanjay Rai and Ram Pratap Singh Chauhan. In the letter submitted to the State Election Commission, this delegation said that petition number 68 Election Petition-2022 is pending in the Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court.

It has been said in this letter that a petition was filed through Gorakhnath Baba, in which the validity of candidate Awadhesh Prasad for winning from Milkipur (SU) seat in the year 2022 has been challenged. The delegation said in the petition that no stay order or interim order has been passed through the High Court regarding this petition.

The BJP delegation has demanded that in view of the High Court not issuing any order in view of the petition, it is very important to complete the by-election of Milkipur (SU) assembly along with the by-elections of the remaining 9 assembly constituencies.

What is the whole matter?
Let us tell you, earlier yesterday the Election Commission had announced to hold by-elections on 9 assembly seats of the state on 13 November, while the results will be announced on 23 November. The Election Commission has not announced the date of by-election on Milkipur seat due to the pending case in the High Court.

This petition has been filed by former Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Gorakhnath Baba. In the year 2022, Gorakhnath Baba lost the election to Awadhesh Prasad of Samajwadi Party. After which he challenged the validity of the victory of the SP candidate in the High Court, currently this matter is pending in the High Court.
