The interim government of Bangladesh has decided to cancel eight national days. And at this time, it is said that the holiday may be extended during Durga Puja from next year. Along with this, the Ministry of Public Administration has proposed to increase public holidays during this period as well. It is also known that the final decision may be taken by discussing this in the meeting of the Advisory Council of Bangladesh. Incidentally, for a long time, various organizations of Bangladeshi Hindus have been demanding to increase the official holiday during Durga Puja. They made the same demand this year as well. During Hasina's reign, there was a day off during Durga Puja. But, this year, the interim government led by Muhammad Yunus extended the holiday by one day during Puja. This holiday was extended by government executive orders. As a result, government employees got four consecutive days off during Puja this time. But, from next year, two days of public holidays may be available during Puja.
According to media sources in Bangladesh, apart from Puja, holidays have also been proposed to be extended during Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Azhar. It is also known that it has been proposed to make public holidays five days during this period and two days during Durga Puja. During this time also by executive order, leave has been increased by one day. A decision will be taken after discussing this proposal of the Ministry of Public Administration, on Thursday, in the meeting of the Advisory Council. If the proposal is approved there, it will be added to the list of public holidays in 2025.

Along with that, it is known that the decision on canceling the 15th August holiday, announcing the general holiday on 5th August and increasing the maximum age limit for entering the job may also be decided in that meeting. Note that the 'national holiday' of Bangabandhu Mujibur Rahman's birthday is also being cancelled. However, the decision to exclude March 7 and August 15 from the list of 'National Days' has been criticized and protested by many including Taslima Nasreen.
