Expansion
Congress and SP will jointly contest the by-elections in ten seats of UP. SP will contest on eight seats while Congress will get two seats. At present, the Election Commission has decided the election schedule for nine seats. Due to the petition on Milkipur seat, the election dates have not been decided. Elections for the remaining seats are to be held on November 13. SP's chief spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary said that Congress has been given Ghaziabad and Khair seats in the by-elections. Well the seat falls in Aligarh district. Apart from these two seats, SP is going to contest the remaining seats. Apart from Kundarki seat, the party has also declared candidates on other seats.
Discussion took place in Srinagar
According to sources, this issue was discussed between SP President Akhilesh Yadav and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in Srinagar on Wednesday. Congress was already demanding these two seats.
SP is contesting elections on these seats
On October 9 itself, SP had declared candidates in Milkipur along with Karhal, Sisamau, Phulpur, Katehari and Majhwan. Now Kundarki, Meerapur, Ghaziabad and Khair seats were left to field candidates. This evening itself, SP had declared its candidate in Meerapur.
Ticket given to Sumbul Rana
Samajwadi Party has declared Sumbul Rana as its candidate for Meerapur Assembly by-election. Sumbul Rana is the daughter-in-law of former MP Kadir Rana and daughter of BSP leader and former MP Munkad Ali.
