Bangladesh Cabinet will soon issue a gadget notification regarding holiday cancellation.

In Bangladesh, the government of Mohammad Yunus has announced the cancellation of 8 government holidays related to the independence and founding days. Of these, the two most important dates include 7 March and 15 August.

On March 7, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founder of Bangladesh, gave a speech and united the entire country against the Pakistani army. This day is remembered there as the day of blowing the bugle of independence. At the same time, mourning is celebrated in Bangladesh on 15th August.

On this day in 1975, several Bangladesh Army officers carried out a coup by entering Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's house and killing him. Mourning was celebrated there on this day. The decision to cancel the holiday on both these days has been taken in a meeting of Yunus's advisors.

Those who took this decision include those who had started protests against Sheikh Hasina. Which later led to his overthrow.

Awami League said – this illegal government is erasing history

Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's daughter Sheikh Hasina's party Awami League has protested against the cancellation of holidays. The party has written on its Facebook page that the illegal government wants to destroy the history of creation of Bangladesh. They want to impose Pakistan's ideology in the country.

The government does not consider Sheikh Mujib as the Father of the Nation. It will now celebrate Jinnah's birthday. On this, Nahid Islam, who was part of the interim government and the face of the protest against Sheikh Hasina, said – the history of the country did not start from 1952. We have fought in 1947, 1971, 1990 and 2024 also. We have fought many freedom battles.

Warrant issued against Sheikh Hasina

Bangladesh's International Criminal Tribunal on Thursday issued an arrest warrant against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and 45 others. These include Hasina's Awami League leaders. This warrant has been issued in connection with alleged crimes in the student movement.

The tribunal gave instructions to arrest these 46 people including Hasina and present them before the tribunal by November 18.

Bangladesh's interim government in August had said it would prosecute those involved in the killings during the student movement against Hasina's government at the International Criminal Tribunal.

More than 700 people were killed in anti-Hasina protests.

India's Independence Day and Bangladesh's mourning day together

While India celebrates Independence Day on 15 August, neighboring country Bangladesh observes National Mourning Day. The reason for this is the murder of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman which was committed 48 years ago. Mujib ur Rahman was the founder of Bangladesh.

On August 15, 1975, army officers surrounded his house from all sides and opened fire and killed him. Since then, 15 August is observed as National Mourning Day in Bangladesh. Read the full news here…
