He stressed that the Ministry of Health and Population has already begun to implement the use of the scientific name of the drug instead of the trade name, which helps provide alternative medicine to citizens.

Major General Doctor Bahaa El-Din Zidan pointed to the role played by the Egyptian Authority within the framework of implementing the unified purchasing strategy to strengthen the pharmaceutical supply chain, to ensure a strategic reserve that supports the country’s pharmaceutical needs in the short term, as well as enhancing the supply of raw materials related to the pharmaceutical industry to support its localization, with the transfer of technology. To build a strong and sustainable industrial base.

Dr. Ali Al-Ghamrawi also emphasized the efforts of the Egyptian Medicine Authority to follow up and ensure the sustainability of the availability of medicine in the Egyptian market, noting that these efforts were crowned by the Authority’s success in providing about 95% of the Egyptian medicine in the market, which enabled a return to the stage before the drug shortage. .

During the meeting, the Secretary-General of the Egyptian Unified Purchasing Authority presented a report on the coordination efforts taking place between various parties to manage the necessary needs for pharmaceutical products, as well as inputs for the pharmaceutical industry and localizing them locally, in addition to other medical supplies, serums, vaccinations, blood derivatives, infant formula, and some Medical and laboratory devices.
