Arrest warrant issued against Sheikh Hasina, former Bangladeshi PM is under protection in India

An arrest warrant has been issued against Sheikh Hasina, who left the country after the coup and bloody violence in Bangladesh. According to local media, a court of the country has issued an arrest warrant against him on charges of committing crimes against humanity. Sheikh Hasina left the country in a helicopter from Bangladesh and landed at Hindon airbase near Delhi. Since then she has been living in India, but there is no information about her whereabouts. They have been kept at a safe place.

Lawyer Mohammad Tajul Islam, who filed the petition in the court against Sheikh Hasina, said that this is a memorable day. At the same time, the family members of one of the hundreds of people killed during the movement in Bangladesh said that this is good news. We hope that now the trial against Sheikh Hasina will proceed and we will get justice. Sheikh Hasina was in power in Bangladesh for the last 15 years. He is accused of arresting people on a large scale during his tenure as PM. Apart from this, political opponents were selectively killed.

Tajul Islam, chief advocate of Bangladesh International Crimes Tribunal, said that Sheikh Hasina has been ordered to be produced by the court on November 18. Islam said, 'Sheikh Hasina was leading those who spread violence in the country from July to August, in which hundreds of people were killed.' Apart from Sheikh Hasina, the court has also asked to arrest her party Awami League General Secretary Kaidul Quader. Apart from these two leaders, arrest warrants have also been issued for 44 others. The names of these 44 people have not been released.
