MPs of their own party are mobilizing against Trudeau, preparing to remove the Prime Minister before the elections

Dissatisfaction is increasing with the leadership of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Only his own Liberal Party MPs are making strategies against Trudeau. Liberal Party MP Sean Casey openly targeted Trudeau during an interview on CBC News Network's “Power and Politics” program. “The message I'm getting is that it's time for (Trudeau) to go, and I agree with that,” he said Tuesday.

Casey said voters in his area no longer want to listen to Trudeau. “People have run out of patience… they want Trudeau to step down now,” he said. Furthermore, he admitted that he had discussed this over the phone with the Prime Minister in July. Sean Casey is the first Liberal MP to publicly call on the Prime Minister to step down. He also said that several meetings were being held among MPs following the party's defeat in the Toronto-St Paul by-election in June, although he himself did not attend them.

Earlier, last week there were reports that Liberal Party MPs were uniting to remove Trudeau from the post of leader. According to CBC News, a confidential document signed by MPs is also under discussion, which they have prepared as an “insurance policy” so that if Trudeau does not resign, they can rally against him and demand a change of leadership.

Casey also said there is “very deep concern” within the party and a growing number of MPs questioning Trudeau's leadership abilities. New Brunswick MP Wayne Long had also sent an email to Liberal MPs in June this year demanding Trudeau's removal. Casey made it clear that he is ready for the Liberal Party's next election fight, whether Trudeau remains in the leadership or not.

“My duty is to act on behalf of the people of Charlottetown to stop Pierre Poilievre from becoming prime minister,” he said. Describing this fight as a “necessary fight”, he further said that he is ready for every situation. It remains to be seen how Trudeau will respond to this pressure and whether calls for a leadership change within the Liberal Party grow louder.

MPs from his own party are uniting against Trudeau at a time when he has openly messed with India. The diplomatic row between India and Canada over the killing of Sikh separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar deepened on Tuesday. While Canada hinted at possible sanctions against India in view of some findings in the case, India rejected Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's allegations.

Canadian authorities also attempted to link the Bishnoi gang to Indian government agents in carrying out covert operations, including violent criminal activities, in Canada and claimed to have clear evidence to support the allegations. Amid rising tensions between the two countries, Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Jolie did not rule out the possibility of imposing sanctions against India and said “all options are under consideration”.
