Foreign Minister S. reached Islamabad for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization meeting. Jaishankar has made Pakistan listen a lot on its own soil. The Foreign Minister said that if terrorism continues then business cannot be encouraged. These two things cannot go together. He said that mutual cooperation between two countries can happen only when both respect each other. In his address he said that cooperation is possible only when the partnership is genuine. Relations cannot progress through one-sided agendas. He said that we can develop only if we behave as per the charter of SCO.
He clearly said that if cross-border terrorism and fundamentalism are used, then there cannot be progress in the fields of business, energy and connectivity. S. Jaishankar said that we are meeting at a time when the world is going through difficulties; Two major conflicts are ongoing, which will impact the entire world. S. reached Islamabad to represent India in SCO. Jaishankar maintained the same attitude in Pakistan for which he is known.
He said that there is no doubt that peace and stability are necessary for development and progress. If these things do not happen then there can be no talk of development. The Foreign Minister said that if everyone together makes efforts for connectivity, then new capabilities will be developed. This will help in meeting the energy needs of the world. This will lay the foundation for big changes in the world.
India has told Pakistan several times that unless cross-border terrorism is stopped, talks with Pakistan are not possible. Reiterating India's stand, S Jaishankar said cross-border activities related to terrorism and extremism are unlikely to boost trade, energy flows and connectivity.
