'My Lord… how did you say that my petition has no merit, this is injustice', CJI Chandrachud got so angry at the man's argument that he gave this order to the guards.


Expressing displeasure over the petition filed demanding investigation against former Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi, the Supreme Court has reprimanded the petitioner. On Tuesday (October 15, 2024), Chief Justice D.Y. When Chandrachud's bench again sat to hear the case, it got angry after hearing the allegations of the petitioner against the former CJI. While rejecting the petition, the court told the petitioner that his petition has no merit. On this the petitioner started arguing on the contrary.  After this the court ordered the security personnel to take him out of the courtroom."text-align: justify;">Arun Ramchandra Hublikar filed a petition in the Supreme Court against his illegal dismissal from service. In this he told the court that he had earlier also filed a petition on service dispute, at that time former CJI Ranjan Gogoi had rejected his petition. Arun Ramchandra Hublikar has demanded an investigation against the former CJI. On September 30, a bench headed by CJI DY Chandrachud had expressed strong objection to the petition seeking investigation against former CJI Ranjan Gogoi and asked the petitioner to remove his name from the list of parties."text-align: justify;">Along with CJI Chandrachud, Justice Bela M Trivedi and Justice Satish Chandra Sharma were also involved in the hearing. He ordered the security personnel to take Hublikar out of the court room. During the hearing on Tuesday, when the petitioner took the name of the former CJI, the bench got angry. The bench said, 'We are going to impose a fine on you. Do not take the name of any judge. There is no merit in your case.'

On this matter the petitioner started arguing with CJI Chandrachud and both the judges. He protested against the bench's comment and said, 'How can you say that my case has no merit. How can this be said… This is injustice against me. At least I should get justice before I die. On this, the bench said that it rejects the petition, after which the security personnel were instructed to take the petitioner out of the court room.

In the last hearing, CJI Chandrachud had put a condition before the petitioner to remove the name of the former CJI from the list of parties. The bench had said, 'How can you file a petition making a judge a respondent? Some dignity should be maintained. You cannot just say that I want an internal inquiry against a judge. Justice Ranjan Gogoi was a former judge of the Supreme Court. The court had said, 'Justice Gogoi had retired as the Chief Justice of India. You cannot say that I want an internal inquiry against a judge, because you did not succeed in getting your arguments across his bench. Sorry, we can't tolerate this. After Hublikar assured that the name of the former CJI would be removed from the list of parties, Justice Chandrachud ordered listing of the petition, which was heard on Tuesday. Justice Gogoi retired on 17 November 2019.
