‘LatinAR’ makes smart glasses a reality

What if a floating road sign gave you directions while riding a motorbike? Although it seems fictional, the Swiss DeepTech company ‘Aegis Rider’ has reported making it a reality. The company is bringing such an AI-powered AR helmet to the European market later this year. The South Korean startup LatinAR is working behind this technology.

According to Omdia Research, global sales of AI glasses will reach 8.7 million units by 2025. This year the number may cross one and a half crore. LetinAR was founded in 2016 by two friends, Jaehyuk Kim and Jeonghoon Ha, capitalizing on the demand from eyewear manufacturers. The company does not make glasses. They make optical modules or lenses. LatinAR has come up with their own patented PinTLT technology to overcome the shortcomings of lens technologies. Conventional lenses waste light and drain batteries quickly. Again they look very heavy and strange. Pintilt technology precisely controls only the light that enters the eye. As a result, the glasses frame is as thin and light as normal glasses. Pictures look much brighter and the battery lasts longer.

Large corporations such as Japan’s NTT Konak and DynaBook are already using LatinAR modules. Behind the scenes, this lens revolution is leading the way to make smart glass a part of people’s everyday lives.
