Former Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank. Bangladesh Bank has appointed Khurshid Alam as Independent Director and Chairman of Islami Bank. This information was informed in a letter of Bangladesh Bank on Sunday.
In the message written to the managing director of Islami Bank, it is said, ‘By virtue of section 45 and 47(3) of the Bank Company Act, 1991, as an independent director and chairman of the board of directors of your bank. Khurshid Alam was appointed.
It should be noted that Khurshid Alam lost the post of Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank during the July movement.
Earlier this morning, Islami Bank’s former chairman Professor M Zubaidur Rahman resigned by submitting his resignation letter to Bangladesh Bank.
In July 2025, Bangladesh Bank appointed M. Zubaidur Rahman as an independent director of the bank. Since then he has been elected as the chairman and served as the chairman. The governor then was economist Ahsan H Mansoor.
