Terrorist threat, civil war situation; Islamabad turned into a cantonment even before S Jaishankar arrived

The SCO summit is being organized amidst a civil war-like situation in Pakistan. Representatives from many countries will participate in this summit of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation. Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar is also going to participate in this conference. Whereas organizing it in Pakistan is a big challenge. Pakistan has been surrounded by questions regarding security for a long time. Even foreign representatives are not being spared. In such a situation, conducting this meeting peacefully remains a big challenge for Islamabad.

Pakistan has been harboring terrorism for a long time, which has now become a menace for it. There are terrorist attacks on police and army every day in Pakistan. Recently violence has increased rapidly in Pakistan. A large number of people were killed in broad daylight in Balochistan. Whereas in Pakistan's largest city Karachi, Chinese citizens were killed. 20 children were killed in one attack, while seven workers were killed in an explosion in a coal mine.

A part of Pakistan is demanding independence and these days this demand has intensified. Experts say that Balochistan Liberation Army is getting help from Pakistani Taliban. Although they do not attack together. In view of the SCO meeting, the entire Islamabad has been converted into a cantonment. No vehicle can move without checking.

A Pakistani official said that strict security arrangements have been made so that no untoward incident happens. These days the situation in Pakistan is worse due to the shutdown. Officials say that the country's economy suffered a loss of about $684 million last week. Imran Khan's supporters have troubled the Pakistani government. In such a situation, internet was closed at many places. At the same time, the impact of the shutdown by Imran's supporters has also been very bad.

The already poor are unable to bear such losses. The government has declared a three-day holiday in Pakistan during the summit. Apart from this, wedding halls, restaurants, hotels, cafes and markets of Islamabad have also been closed. Earlier in March 2022, Pakistan had hosted the SCO meeting.

Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar is going to Pakistan but India has already made it clear that this is a multilateral program. There is going to be no discussion there regarding relations between Pakistan and India. The Foreign Minister said that he is a good member of SCO and hence he has to go to Pakistan.

According to Pakistani media, a 76-member delegation of Russia and seven representatives of SCO have reached Pakistan. Apart from this, delegations from China and Kyrgyzstan have also reached Pakistan. The SCO meeting will be held in Islamabad on 15 and 16 October.
