Cylinder explosion while taking gas in bus, 3 killed

Three people were killed when a cylinder exploded while taking gas in a bus in Lakshmipur. At least 20 people were burnt. The condition of 10 of them is critical.

The accident took place at the Green Life filling station in Muktiganj area of ​​Lakshmipur town on Sunday (October 13) around 2 am. Panic has spread in the area in this incident.

The deceased are Sumon Hossain, son of Charmansa Batumia of Bhabaniganj Union of Sadar Upazila, Md. son of Sujamia of Banchanagar area. Yusuf Mia and Hriday Hossain. They were said to be drivers of CNG-powered autorickshaws.

The injured are Sumon Hossain, Md. Rocky, Mohammad Fahad Hossain, Siraj Mia, Md. 20 people including Hridoy, Shanto Khan and Abdul Malek. As the condition of 10 of them is critical, they have been sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Eyewitnesses said that a Laxmipur-Ramgatti-bound Meghna Paribahan bus came to the Green Life filling station to take gas. While giving gas to the bus, the cylinder suddenly exploded. The people in the station started running. Three autorickshaw drivers died on the spot.

On receiving the information, two units of the fire service and the police reached the spot and recovered the bodies of the three victims and sent them to Sadar Hospital morgue.

Ranjit Kumar, Station Officer of Laxmipur Fire Service, said that after receiving the information, the dead and injured were rescued and taken to Sadar Hospital. All three died on the spot. The bus cylinder was of poor quality. It explodes when taking gas.

Lakshmipur sadar hospital doctor Dr. Zainal Abedin said, three died on the spot. We did not get a chance to treat them. About 20 people are injured. Out of this, some hands and feet of 10 people have been severed. Besides, different parts of the body have been burnt. We have sent most of the patients to Dhaka for treatment.
