Continuous heavy rain in Khulna, suffering from waterlogging


The roads of Khulna city are flooded due to heavy rain. Flooding has occurred. Water has also entered homes and businesses. Common people are suffering. Heavy rain started on Sunday (August 25) morning. Earlier, it rained on Saturday (August 24) night as well.

Meteorologist in charge of Khulna Meteorological Office. Amirul Azad said that such rains are happening because the monsoon is active over Bangladesh. 91 mm rainfall has been recorded in Khulna from Saturday (August 24) night to Sunday (August 25) 12 noon. 30 mm of rainfall was recorded in 24 hours from Saturday night to 6 am on Sunday. And 61 mm of rain was recorded from 6 am to 12 pm.

Khalishpur Muzgunni Highway, Basthara Colony, Rayermahal, KDA Avenue, Satrasta, Royal Chatwar, Baitipara, Moulvipara TV Boundary Road, PTI Mor, Rupsa and other low-lying areas of the city have been submerged.

Laborers, school, madrasa and college going students are in trouble due to waterlogged roads. Passengers have suffered as the presence of vehicles on the road is comparatively less.

It can be seen on the ground that the roads in the city's Royal Mor, Baitipara road, Satrasta, Bara Mirzapur, Tutpara areas have sunk. Flooding has occurred. Drivers with vehicles have suffered due to road subsidence. Many car engines have been damaged by water ingress. Many are seen being pushed by cars. Many people are seen driving light vehicles even on footpaths.

Van driver Shahjahan said, 'There has been heavy rain since morning. Most of the roads in Khulna city have been submerged due to rain. I am bringing a van full of wood. Can't drive van in water. I am pushing for this. It is very difficult.'

A resident of Mawlabari Khalpar area of ​​the city. Nazmul said, 'We can't go out of the house for water in the rain. I work I can't even go there. There are many problems with movement.'

Monirul Islam, a resident of Rayermahal area of ​​the city, said that a lot of water has accumulated on the road in Muzgunni, Police Line, Rayer Mahal, Boyra areas of the city. Also, water is entering the house. There is a lot of suffering in movement.
