Chittagong: There have been allegations that the principal of Chittagong Imperial College of Nursing Institute was fired for being pregnant for two consecutive years. Besides, the hospital authorities took out the victim from the residential hostel of the institution at midnight.
The incident took place at Apollo Imperial Hospital on Wednesday (October 9), said Dolly Akhter, the victim's principal.
Dolly Akhter alleged that she was fired from the post of principal of the nursing college without giving any reason.
He said, due to pregnancy last year, I got four months maternity leave as per the rules of the organization. On September 21, due to illness, obstetrician Dr. Dil went to Anjiz. She did the test and told about pregnancy again. After the college authorities informed about the matter, they began to harass in various ways. At one point HR department officials kept saying 'You took maternity leave for four months last year and will take leave again this year, you should resign. '
Dolly also said that since I did not resign, I was called to the Human Resources Department on the morning of October 9. There he was asked to submit his resignation letter immediately, otherwise he would be terminated. After that, if I don't resign, he gave me a notice of dismissal and immediately handed over all the documents related to the college to the college secretary and asked me to leave the college hostel. As my family is staying in Dhaka, I request the authorities to give time to vacate the hostel. So that my husband can come and take me. But the authorities did not listen to me and took me out of the college hostel along with my eight-month-old baby at around 12 o'clock that night and left them in a hotel in the city.
In appointing and dismissing the principal of the college, there is an obligation to take the approval of the appointment committee along with the Vice-Chancellor of Chittagong Medical University. Dolly Akhter alleged that she was fired for not accepting that.
