The memorandum of understanding was signed in the Grand Egyptian Museum, the largest museum in the world that tells the story of the history of ancient Egyptian civilization, in the presence of Major General Atef Moftah – General Supervisor of the Grand Egyptian Museum Project and the surrounding area, and Sebastian Reyes – CEO of Schneider Electric for the Northeast Africa and Levant region. This partnership comes within the framework of the museum’s plan to complete its journey towards achieving sustainability and working to improve energy efficiency using technology, as the museum has won many awards, the most important of which are five ISO certificates for safety, occupational health, environmental management, risk management, quality systems, and energy management. In addition to three ISO certificates for the Antiquities Restoration Center. The museum also received the award for the best project in the field of green construction, “Green Building Award”, during the Environment and Development Forum: The Road to the 27th Sharm El-Sheikh Climate Change Conference, the award for the best model for building facilities through the smart application BIM Model Award, and the gold certificate for green building and sustainability. According to the Egyptian Green Pyramid System, from the National Center for Housing and Building Research, the EDGE Zero-carbon international assessment certificate, and the Khufu Boat Museum received the award for the best design for smart energy solutions in the world, from Schneider Electric International.
The MoU aims to explore the design and construction of the smart museum concept at the Grand Egyptian Museum using Schneider Electric’s expertise and solutions, through EcoStruxure platform technologies for managing infrastructure such as electricity, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, water, gas, data networks, and a command and control center. , and others.
These solutions contribute to enabling institutions to improve the reliability of the electrical network, predict faults and deal with them quickly and more efficiently, ensuring continuity of power, reducing energy consumption, protecting against cyber attacks, reducing carbon emissions and helping institutions achieve their sustainability goals.
The partnership between Schneider Electric and the Grand Egyptian Museum is an extension of the effective cooperation in the King Khufu Ship Museum project at the Grand Egyptian Museum, which won the award for the best project for smart energy solutions and energy management system in the world for the year 2023, which is an international testimony to the efficiency of engineering design that It was carried out by the museum's engineering department, and was perfectly implemented by Schneider Electric. Schneider Electric provided Tower Monitoring Expert solutions to monitor and control energy within the museum through one open system that can deal with any other open system while ensuring the highest standards of cybersecurity, and improving network reliability by up to 22%, to avoid and reduce the time of breakdowns by about 5 times. And monitor energy consumption to achieve efficiency and save energy by 24%, using smart electricity panels throughout the museum.
Schneider Electric solutions also contribute to predicting malfunctions and dealing with them before they occur, and reducing the resulting carbon emissions. Thanks to the integrated Building Management System, ventilation, air conditioning, and fire alarm systems can be controlled, which contributes to achieving security and safety elements inside the museum, improving the quality of the internal environment, and preserving the safety of these ships from humidity and weather factors, as they are one of the most important Egyptian antiquities.
