India strongly reacts to theft of gold crown from Jessoreswari temple in Bangladesh

India reacted strongly to the theft of a golden crown from Jashoreshwari temple in Bangladesh. At the same time, India condemned the attack on Durga Puja mandap and Hindu temple in Bangladesh and the theft of Maa Kali's crown. India's Ministry of External Affairs has called such attacks deplorable and a 'planned crime'. The Ministry of External Affairs issued a statement in this regard on Saturday. In this statement, Delhi has expressed concern about the situation of minorities in Bangladesh. At the same time, the attack on a Durga Puja mandap in Dhaka and the robbery of the Jashoreshwari temple have been highlighted. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited this temple in March 2021 and crowned the goddess with gold. The crown was stolen during Durga Puja. It is known that the theft was caught in the CCTV footage. On Friday, the Indian High Commission in Bangladesh expressed concern and asked for appropriate steps to recover the crown. This time India has given a strong response to this.

The Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement on Saturday that India is very concerned about the attack on a puja mandap in Dhaka's Tantibazar and the robbery at the Jashoreshwari Kali temple in Satkhira. These are also reported to be very sad events. Attacks on temples and Hindus there followed a particular 'pattern', the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement. India has again asked the government of Bangladesh to ensure the safety of all religious minorities, including Hindus.

The police said that extra security arrangements have been made for Durga Puja in Bangladesh. Meanwhile, petrol bombs were allegedly hurled at a pavilion in Dhaka's Tantibazar on Friday. About 20 people were injured.

It should be noted that just before Durga Puja, various threats were made in several places. After that, the Interim Government of Bangladesh assured to provide extra security during the puja. Bangladesh Police IG Moinul Islam said on Friday that 35 untoward incidents have taken place during Puja this month and 17 people have been arrested in all those incidents. Meanwhile, Chief Advisor to the Interim Government, Muhammad Yunus assured full security to the Hindus by going to the Dhakeshwari Temple on Saturday.
