'Underground politics' going on in educational institutions, conspiracies like 71: Chhatra Dal

Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal has demanded ban on 'underground politics' in all educational institutions of Bangladesh. They made this demand from a program in front of the capital's Engineers Institution on Saturday (January 18) afternoon. The leaders of the student organization said, if this politics is still being done in the educational institutions, then it will be assumed that there is a conspiracy like 1971 again.

It was the 'March for Justice' program to demand the prosecution of the 'terrorist activities' of the banned student organization Chhatra League and the punishment of the terrorists. The program started from the premises of the capital's Engineers Institution. The procession ends with a rally at Shaheed Minar via Shah Bagh, Raju Sculpture and TSC.

At that time, Chhatra Dal general secretary Nashir Uddin Nashir addressed the rally, president Rakibul Islam Rakib, DU branch president Ganesh Chandra Roy Sahas, general secretary Nahiduzzaman Shipon and various leaders and workers of the center and metropolis.

In the rally, Rakib said, 'For the first time in the last five and a half months, we have helped the government from our program, silently, and have supported the spirit of cooperation. The government and the university administration are not working to arrest the Chhatra League. It is prohibited as a penalty.'

Calling upon the VC of the university and the principals of the college, Rakib said, 'Chatra League leaders and workers should be brought to justice as soon as possible. Even though there was an investigation committee against the Chhatra League in the institutions where DU, JABI were attacked, they did not publish the investigation report even after five and a half months. Their studentship should be canceled after quick investigation and publication of their list. We are not giving an ultimatum. Urging to act as soon as possible.'

The Chhatra Dal president said, 'The student movement across the country has been led by the anti-discrimination student movement. But many are divisive. We are still united. We are all student organizations united against fascism. From today's program, I demand to ban underground politics in all educational institutions across the country. If anyone is still doing underground politics, I assume they are involved in a 1971 conspiracy again'. Rakib commented that the Chhatra League will be on the streets like March for Justice until the trial of Chhatra League is not done.

Sashash said, 'After July-August, even if the interim government has been in place for five and a half months, I cannot see any justice. The friends of the dictatorship who helped Hasina in various campuses including DU are still alive, if the friends of the dictatorship still remain, the spirit of July-August will be destroyed.

Courage said to the government, 'Bring the Dhaka University administration under the law. Bring the corrupt teachers, friends of fascism, to justice.'

The march for justice started with the leaders and activists of Chhatra Dal's central and DU branches in the forefront. At this time, they held various placards and chanted slogans demanding justice for BCL.

Earlier on Friday, this program was announced through a circular signed by Jahangir Alam, office secretary of Central Chhatra Dal.
