7 tons of hilsa seized during smuggling in India

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized about seven maunds (275 kg) of hilsa during smuggling into India through the border of Sunamganj's Doarabazar upazila. This shipment of fish was seized from the border area called Ghilatali of Banglabazar BOP of upazila in the early hours of Wednesday (September 11).

According to BGB sources, BGB conducted a special operation in the border area called Ghilatali under the responsibility of Banglabazar BOP around 5:30 am on Wednesday. Meanwhile, 275 kg of hilsa fish was seized during smuggling in India. The estimated market value of which is 5 lakh 50 thousand taka. During the operation, the smugglers fled after sensing the presence of the BGB. As a result, no one could be arrested.

Sylhet Battalion (48 BGB) captain Lt. Col. Hafizur Rahman said that according to the instructions of the interim government, BGB is active in protecting border security and preventing smuggling. Today, 275 kg of hilsa fish has been seized. Seized hilsa will be deposited in customs.
