Taiwan New Office in Mumbai: India has given permission to Taiwan to open a new and third representative office in Mumbai. Taiwan will start its new office in Mumbai from October 16. Offices have already opened in Delhi and Chennai. These signs of partnership between India and Taiwan may trouble China even more.
Taiwan's actual ambassador Baoshuan Ger had also announced on October 8 about opening his office in India that he is going to open his office in Mumbai from October 16. Ger had stressed that this mission would facilitate stronger ties between Taiwanese and Indian businesses.
Number of Taiwanese diplomats will increase to 32
The establishment of the new office in Mumbai is part of Taiwan's efforts to expand its ties with India under its “New Southbound Policy”. With the opening of the new office, the number of Taiwanese diplomats in India will increase to 32 and along with this the personnel here will also be increased. Ambassador Baoshuan Ger said that the objective behind opening the new offices is clearly to increase economic relations and trade between the two countries, especially in the fields of education.
Relationships were continuously deteriorating
It is believed that China may frown at this step because China considers Taiwan as its integral part and also dislikes its diplomatic relations with other countries. It has been seen that Taiwanese companies have been investing especially in China, but relations between the two countries are continuously deteriorating.
Taiwan used to invest only in China
While the Taiwan government is making efforts to advance its country, there is strong opposition from China. Many times China has also tried to intimidate Taiwan by showing its military forces. For this reason, Taiwanese companies had also started withdrawing their investments from China.
