The rain in Lakshmipur which started on Friday continued till Saturday (September 14) evening. As a result, various low-lying areas of the district have been submerged in water. The Met Office recorded 95 mm of rain in the district from 6 am to 6 pm on Saturday. Locals believe that if the rain does not stop, wild conditions may arise again.

Sohrab Hossain, Senior Meteorological Observer of Meteorological Office, said at 12 noon today, 'From Friday morning to Saturday morning, 36.4 millimeters of rain has fallen in Ramgatti of the district. 95 mm of rain has been received in the district from 6 am to 12 noon today. Warning signal number 3 is in effect due to low pressure in the Bay of Bengal. Monsoon is active and it rains. It may rain tomorrow till Sunday (September 15).'

Locals said that the flood water has started receding for the past few days. Water has receded completely from many areas. However, the rains on Friday and Saturday have raised water in some places. The road has sunk. In areas that are still under water, the water level has risen again. Due to various obstacles, the water is not able to go down to the canal properly. If it rains like this, the people of Lakshmipur will be affected by floods again.

Abdullah Sharif, a resident of Ramgati, said, 'It is raining. This rain started from yesterday. I couldn't go anywhere today. If the rains continue and further downpours occur from upstream, flooding may occur.'
