Two abducted Rohingya rescued in Teknaf, 3 detained


Two kidnapped Rohingya citizens have been rescued and 3 abductors have been arrested in Cox's Bazar's Teknaf. Teknaf Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Muhammad Ghiyas Uddin confirmed the matter.

The rescued are Samsu (50) son of Abul Basher of Ukhiya Balukhali and Anisul Alam (28) son of Abdu Shukkur of the same camp.

The OC said, on Monday (November 25) around 9:30 am, two Rohingyas were abducted by 3 unidentified passengers from Mathapara road west of Teknaf Sadar Union. A case was registered in the police station. Later, during the investigation of the case, it was reported in secret news that the abductors along with the two abducted victims were staying at Matpara Hills of Ward No. 3 of Sadar Union.

On receiving such information, Teknaf police station SI Sanjeev Kumar Pal and SI Nani Barua conducted an operation with the force and managed to arrest 3 robbers Saiful Islam, Maryam Begum and Nachima Akhtar from that area. Later two Rohingyas were rescued from their grip.

He further said that during the operation some other kidnappers escaped from the spot.
