Due to the war between the two cricket boards of India and Pakistan, serious complications have arisen over the Champions Trophy. The International Cricket Council (ICC) itself has not said anything clearly so far. It is expected that the problem of this tournament in 'coma' will be removed.
The ICC has called a board meeting on November 29. A Cricinfo report today revealed that the answer may be found on where and how the 2025 Champions Trophy will be held. Because, even though Pakistan is the host, the Indian cricket team does not want to go there (Pakistan) to play the tournament. Pakistan is also unwilling to concede a hair from their position. In that case, the much-discussed hybrid model could be the Champions Trophy. It is expected that India will play their matches in other countries, which will be decided based on the vote of the board members. Cricinfo has learned that the meeting will be virtual and the final decision may be taken after the ICC board agrees.
British media 'The Telegraph' leaked the Champions Trophy schedule a few months ago. According to the Telegraph's schedule, the tournament is scheduled to begin on February 19. The schedule of the tournament was scheduled to be announced at an event in Lahore on November 11 this year, but the event was canceled by the ICC at the last moment. Because, the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) informed the ICC that the Indian cricket team will not go to Pakistan due to the government's permission. Pakistan also did not sit quietly. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has written to the ICC asking why the Indian team will not travel to Pakistan.
ICC published the Champions Trophy tour schedule on November 16 on its official website. The journey of the trophy started that day from Islamabad, the capital city of Pakistan. The Champions Trophy toured various cities in Pakistan from November 17 to 25. Whereas in Karachi it was from 22nd to 25th November. The Champions Trophy will come to Bangladesh on December 10. This ICC trophy will be here (Bangladesh) till December 13.
Champions Trophy was last organized in 2017. Pakistan defeated arch-rivals India by 180 runs in the final held at London Oval. After 8 years, the Champions Trophy is going to be held again with 8 teams. Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, New Zealand, England, Australia, South Africa, Afghanistan – these teams will play in the 2025 Champions Trophy.
