According to local sources, the family has been in the capital Dhaka for a long time, but recently they built a house and started living in Baghata area. Garment factory official Monir Hossain built that house by buying land next to his in-laws' house in Baghata. They stayed there for 15 days. Yesterday afternoon Jobair and Hussain went to play on the bank of Machimpur Bill with some local children. At one point, they went down to bathe in the water of the bill and were lifting the shaluk. After an hour the other children came up but Hussain drowned.
Local residents said that the mother Shaheda Akhtar came to Zobair's house with other children and said, 'I have called many times, but Hussain is not coming.' However, Hussain did not tell his mother that he had drowned in the water. Shaheda thought that the boy was playing and would come back after a while. Later, Zobair alone tried to rescue his younger brother Hussain by going down into the water of that bill. Then he drowned in the water of the bill. After a while, a local woman got down to take a bath and was touched by a human on her feet. He got out of the water in fear and started screaming. With the help of local people, first Hussain and then Zobair were rescued from the bill. Later, when they were taken to the emergency department of Narsingdi Sadar Hospital, the doctors declared both dead.
