New Delhi. The test series between India and Australia will start soon. Rohit Sharma is not part of the team for the first test. But news has come that he will join the squad on Sunday. But will not be part of the playing XI. Jasprit Bumrah will take over the captaincy in the first test in place of Rohit Sharma. Rohit Sharma will join the team on 24th November.
According to the report of ESPN Cricinfo, Rohit will be with the team on Sunday. Earlier, it was not decided that he would play in the initial test matches on Australia tour. But after the birth of his son, he is ready for Australia. Recently his wife Ritika Sajdeh gave birth to a baby boy.
Bumrah has captained before also
Bumrah had earlier captained India in a Test match in 2022. Rohit Sharma was selected as the captain of all formats of India in place of Virat Kohli, Rohit did not play due to being positive with Covid-19. Because of which Bumrah took the captaincy. He captained the 5th Test match against England. However, England won this match by 7 wickets.
