Russia launched ICBM missiles in Ukraine

Russia has launched an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) targeting Ukraine. This was reported by the BBC on Thursday with reference to the Air Force of Ukraine.

Ukrainian forces said the missile was fired from Russia's Astrakhan region early Thursday morning. The attack targeted the Dnipro region of Ukraine.

BBC reported that Russia has launched an intercontinental ballistic missile for the first time in the ongoing war with Ukraine. These missiles are capable of hitting specific targets at a distance of thousands of kilometers.

Ukraine's military said Russia used several other types of missiles in addition to ICBMs in the attack earlier in the day. At least 6 of these KH-101 cruise missiles were shot down by Ukrainian forces.

The ongoing war became more devastating when the US recently allowed Ukraine to use US-made ATACMS missiles to attack Russia. Ukraine has already fired ATACMS missiles at Russia with the permission of the Biden administration. Russia responded by firing ICBM missiles.

Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin's office declined to comment on the ICBM missile launch. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in a statement, “There is nothing to say.” He dismissed the matter as an army matter.
