The trade adviser said these things when the South Korean ambassador to Bangladesh, Park Yong Sik, went to pay a courtesy call on him at the trade adviser's office at the Secretariat on Monday (November 18). The trade adviser expressed hope that Korean investors would be interested in increasing investment in Bangladesh. During the meeting, they discussed bilateral trade, free trade agreement and increasing Korean investment in Bangladesh.
Sheikh Bashir Uddin said that both countries will benefit if Bangladesh-Korea free trade agreement. In addition to the expansion of trade and commerce, the relations between the people of the two countries will be improved.
The trade adviser asked the Korean ambassador to increase investment in light engineering and leather industry, as well as more Korean investment in Bangladesh's export processing sector.
The Korean ambassador said that the number of youth in Bangladesh is high. Korea wants to work to improve their skills in technology. On this occasion he apprised the advisor about their ongoing activities to create skilled manpower through technical training centers.
The ambassador said that while other countries of the world have invested in Bangladesh in one or two selected sectors, Korea has already invested in many sectors. Investment will increase in future.
