At the same time, LPG cylinder has become cheaper by 11% on annual basis.

The price of non veg thali decreased due to fall in the price of chicken. At the same time, this decline in the price of non-veg thali has come due to 13% decline in the price of broilers i.e. chicken on annual basis. The broiler accounts for 50% of the cost of a non-veg thali.

This is how the average cost of a thali is calculated.

  • CRISIL has calculated the average cost of preparing a thali at home based on current food prices in North, South, East and West India. Monthly changes affect the expenses of the common man.
  • CRISIL data also reveals the ingredients that drive changes in the price of a thali, including cereals, pulses, broilers (chicken), vegetables, spices, edible oil and cooking gas.
  • Veg thali consists of roti, vegetables (onion, tomato and potato), rice, dal, curd and salad. Whereas for non-veg thali, chicken has been included instead of lentils.
