He was playing for India A in a series of two 4-day unofficial matches against Australia A. Except Padikkal, all the players of India A team captained by Rituraj Gaikwad will reach India in the next 24 hours. Indian team management has asked Padikkal to stay in Australia after talking to the national selectors. Devdutt joined Team India as a backup player.
