A member of the Union Parishad (UP) named Azmain Hossain alias Tutul has been arrested in Gangni Upazila of Meherpur. A firearm was also recovered from him. He was arrested from his home in Lakshminarayanpur village of Kathuli union of the upazila on Sunday morning. Azmain Hossain is a member of Ward number 7 of Kathuli Union and a local BNP worker.
27 Field Regiment Artillery Captain Mohammad Roshan, who led the operation, said that the operation was conducted after receiving information that Azmain Hossain had illegal firearms and government goods. At that time, a one-shooter gun made of indigenous technology, two gun cartridges, relief blankets, government agricultural incentive seeds, fertilizers and some sewing machines were recovered from him.
