Bangladesh hopes to host two games in two years

If everything goes well, the Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) wants to host the Bangladesh Games in the new year. Besides, BOA also wants to hold Youth Games in 2026. Sheikh Bashir Ahmed Mamun, vice-president and chairman of the media committee, said this after the meeting of BOA today.

Bangladesh Games first started in 1978. But after 2002, the event did not last long. This competition started again from 2013. BOA has been organizing the Bangladesh Games every two years. Accordingly, the organization of Bangladesh Games in 2025 and 2026 Youth Games was discussed in today's meeting. In this regard, Sheikh Bashir Ahmed Mamun said, 'BOA will organize the Bangladesh Games next year. We will have an executive committee meeting soon. There will be a more detailed discussion regarding the games in that meeting.

The BOA meeting was presided over by newly elected President Army Chief General Waqar Uz Zaman. Sheikh Bashir said that Olympic Village was also discussed in the first meeting of the new president. Apart from this, the President also emphasized on the infrastructure of BOA practice. BOA vice-president said, 'Our president played sports in the stadium area. He has a complete idea. Players need to be provided with good environment and practice space. The Olympic, National Sports Council and the Ministry will meet on the issue of federations to improve the quality of the game. Our president is very passionate about sports. Olympic Village is needed to improve the standard of sports in Bangladesh. BOA will form a committee in this regard. I will seek government assistance for the village, if not, I will finance the village myself.'
