Arab Finance: The Ministry of Electricity set the price of energy produced from solar energy and stored battery storage projects at $0.023/kWh for projects established by private sector investors under the build, own and operate system, and at $0.014/kWh for projects in which the government owns the solar power plants while investors provide the storage capacity. , according to what was reported by Al Mal newspaper.
It is worth noting that there are a few solar energy and battery storage projects in Egypt under implementation, the most notable of which is the 1 GW solar power plant developed by the Emirati company EMEA Power with a 600 MW/h battery storage system in Benban — which is expected to be the largest in Africa.
A solar energy project is also being worked on by a coalition that includes the UAE’s Masdar, Hassan Allam Utilities, and the UAE’s Infinity Power, and its capacity is planned to reach 1.2 gigawatts of energy, in addition to storage batteries with a capacity of 240 megawatts per hour.
