The government has announced an assistance of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of the newborn victims of the Jhansi Medical College accident. The families of the injured will get assistance of Rs 50,000 each. CM said that this assistance amount should be received as soon as possible.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed deep grief over the accident that occurred in the NICU of Jhansi Medical College. As soon as information about the incident was received late on Friday night, the Chief Minister sent Deputy Chief Minister Brijesh Pathak and Principal Secretary Health to the spot overnight.
On the instructions of the Chief Minister, an assistance of Rs 05 lakh each is being provided to the parents of the newborn children born prematurely in the incident and Rs 50 thousand each to the families of the injured from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund. The Chief Minister has instructed the Divisional Commissioner and DIG of Jhansi to submit a report regarding the incident within 12 hours.
Ten children had died
Ten newborns died of burns and suffocation in a massive fire that broke out in the Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) of Maharani Lakshmi Bai Medical College. Divisional Commissioner Bimal Kumar Dubey said that 55 newborns were admitted in the ward where the fire broke out. 45 newborns were rescued safely. He is undergoing treatment. As soon as information about the accident was received, about 15 fire engines reached the spot. The army was also called. Army and fire brigade together extinguished the fire.
