A court in the Indian state of West Bengal has sentenced a Bangladeshi national to five years of rigorous imprisonment. A special court of India's National Investigation Agency (NIA) in Kolkata sentenced him last Thursday in a terror conspiracy case. This information is known from the report of Indian media India Today.
According to the report, the name of the Bangladeshi who received the prison sentence is Rabiul Islam. He is a member of banned militant outfit Jamaatul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB). There were cases against him under various sections of the repealed Indian Penal Code and the Foreigners Act of 1946.
The court also fined Rabiul Islam 20 thousand taka in this case. In August 2021, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) took over the case from the Kolkata Police's Special Task Force.
Rabiul Islam was one of the five accused in this case. According to the NIA charge sheet, he was actively involved in the conspiracy of JMB against India. Investigation revealed that Rabiul Islam entered India illegally. He conspired to stop the war in India. He was engaged in the work of enticing the youth to join the organization.
