YouTube has launched a new feature for content creators. Using the feature, licensed songs can be custom remixed through artificial intelligence or AI technology. After selecting a song, its mood or tone can also be changed. YouTube's 'Dream Track AI' tool then converts this remix into a new 30-second soundtrack that can be used in shorts.
But the feature is still in experimental stage. So now certain manufacturers can use the facility.
Google launched the 'YouTube Dream Track' tool last year. It composes songs based on pre-recorded voice given instructions or prompts through text. Artists such as Charlie Puth, Charli XCX, Demi Lovato and John Legend have consented to use their songs for this experimental run of Dream Tracks.
YouTube says participants in the test will first choose a suitable song. Then give instructions or prompts on how to rearrange the song. The AI technology will then reconstruct the song accordingly into a 30-second-long soundtrack. Later set shutters can be used. The new soundtrack will clearly mention the name of the original song and the name of the musicians associated with the song. Apart from this, it will also be clearly written that the song has been remixed by AI.
However, it has not yet been confirmed whether any songs will be used in this test or whether YouTube is working with any music labels.
A Financial Times report published last June said YouTube offered to use songs from major music labels to train AI models.
Like other DreamTrack features, the new 'Remix' tool will also be based on Google's Large Language Model Lyrator. It is trained to produce music according to the user's 'text prompts'. This will work just like creating a new photo or video. But here the output will be in the form of 'audio'.
