BNP standing committee member called Awami League as a fleeing political power. Abdul Moin Khan said, there is no justification for Awami League to claim the power of independence.
He said that on that day (in 1971) the Awami League leaders fled across the border to save their lives in a safe haven. On August 5, the top leader of that party ran away like a coward in 1971.
He said these things at a discussion meeting organized in Mirpur Shah Ali Shrine area on Friday (November 15). The meeting was held on the occasion of National Revolution and Solidarity Day.
In the speech of the chief guest in the discussion meeting, Moin Khan said that Ziaur Rahman is the personality who emerged for the second time through the National Revolution and Solidarity Day on November 7. He declared independence for the first time by declaring rebellion against the invading forces of Pakistan. Where, those who claim the strength of their liberation war, where were the Awami League (leaders) that day?
He said that on November 7, the movement of the 90s and the July-August coup of 24 were built on the same formula. The formula is democracy. The people of the country wanted to vote. Even in 1971, the people of the country fought for votes. Is it the crime of the people of the country? It cannot be a crime. Bangladesh became independent for democracy.
The BNP leader commented that the people of the country were fed the tablets of the eloquent Awami League for 16 years and said that it ended in a day. That tablet was of no use in July-August. On August 5, the students threw away that history and established a real history.
Dhaka Metropolitan North BNP convener Aminul Haque, BNP leader Helen Zerin, SM Jahangir and others also spoke in the discussion meeting.
