Women's T20 World Cup: Harmanpreet's killer batting, Arundhati-Asha's havoc, India's big win over Sri Lanka

New Delhi. The Indian team made the race for the semi-finals interesting by registering a resounding victory against Sri Lanka in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup. Team India achieved its second consecutive win after one defeat. After winning the toss and batting first, India set the highest score of this tournament by scoring 172 runs for 9 wickets against Sri Lanka on the basis of captain Harmanpreet Kaur's stormy fifty and Smriti Mandhana's composed innings. In reply, Sri Lankan team was reduced to just 90 runs.

India, for which it had to face criticism for its batting in the first two matches of the tournament, gave a befitting reply against Sri Lanka. After winning the toss, captain Harmanpreet Kaur chose to bat and made the highest team score so far in this tournament. Smriti Mandhana along with Shefali Verma added 98 runs in the opening. After this, the captain came and destroyed Sri Lanka's bowling by scoring a stormy fifty. Shefali scored 43 runs while Mandhana was out after scoring 50 runs. Harmanpreet Kaur scored unbeaten 52 runs on 27 balls.

Sri Lanka buried under big score
Sri Lanka, which came to chase the huge score of 173 runs given by India, got a shock in the very first over. Vishmi Gunaratne was given the return ticket by taking an excellent catch by substitute RP Yadav on Renuka Thakur's ball. Shreyanka Patil achieved a big success by dismissing captain Chamri Atapattu for 1 run. Renuka Thakur dismissed Harshita Samarawickrama and reduced the team's score to three wickets for 6 runs. Sri Lanka failed to recover after this start. Wickets kept falling at regular intervals and the entire team was reduced to a score of 90 runs.
