The Ranchi unit of India's Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested two Bangladeshis while investigating an illegal Bangladeshi infiltration network. At this time, ED also arrested two Indians. They were arrested on Wednesday (November 13) evening. Arrested are two Indian citizens Pintu Halder and Pinku Basu Mukherjee. The names of Bangladeshi citizens are Roni Mondal and Sameer Chowdhury.
Mandal and Chowdhury have been arrested in the case of illegal entry into India and human trafficking, said the ED.
ED said, all of them have been arrested in Kolkata. ED is taking transit remand to bring everyone to Ranchi, Jharkhand. They were arrested after extensive searches at 17 locations in Jharkhand and West Bengal. The ED also claimed that various criminal items including fake Aadhaar cards, fake passports, illegal weapons, immovable property documents, cash, jewellery, printing paper, printing machines and blank forms used for forging Aadhaar cards have been recovered in this operation.
A case was initially registered at Ranchi's Bariatu police station alleging Bangladeshi infiltration, which was later handed over to the ED on court orders. Allegedly, after illegally infiltrating the Indian states bordering Bangladesh, the infiltrators either settle in the border areas or move to other Indian states with the help of brokers. It is the brokers who provide the necessary documents to the infiltrators for permanent settlement.
