Caribbean country Dominica has announced to give its highest national award – 'Dominica Award of Honor' to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Indian Prime Minister is being given this award for helping Dominica during the Covid-19 pandemic.
India had sent 70 thousand doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine to Dominica in February 2021. This vaccine was useful for Dominica and its neighboring Caribbean countries. This award is being given for the Indian Prime Minister's cooperation in the health infrastructure of Dominica.
Dominica President Sylvany Burton will present the award to Prime Minister Modi during the India-CARICOM Summit in Guyana. Modi will be on a visit to Guyana from November 19 to 21.
On July 9 this year, Russia had awarded PM Modi the country's highest honor 'Order of St. Andrew the Apostle'. He became the first and fourth non-Russian person from India to receive this honour. Till now 13 countries have honored PM Modi with the highest honour.
Russia and Bhutan have also given respect
President Putin giving the highest civilian honor to PM Modi who visited Russia in July this year.
In March 2024, King Jigme Wangchuk of Bhutan honored Prime Minister Modi with the highest 'Order of Druk Gyalpo' award.
